In 1993 I travelled to India with a fellow soldier who also wanted to get away from Somalia for a while. We stayed in Bombay (later renamed Mumbai) and then went on to the former hippie paradise of Goa, now a more family friendly holiday destination.
Bombay
Bombay is the capital of the state of Maharashtra, and one of the most populous cities in the world. It is the commercial and entertainment center of India.
Goa
Goa is the smallest (in terms of area) state in India, located just south of Maharashtra. The state is renowned for its beaches, and was earlier a popular destination for hippies.
