Three months in New York City

While I lived in New York from August to November, 2004, I made photo albums from Times Square, Staten Island Ferry and the annual Greenwich Village Halloween Parade.

Times Square

Most of Manhattan has a grid system of strictly parallell streets running east-west, and avenues running north-south. One of the exceptions is Broadway, which cuts across Manhattan and creates more open spaces where it crosses an avenue. Times Square is where Broadway meets 7th Avenue.

Staten Island Ferry

From Battery Park, at the southern tip of Manhattan, there is a free ferry service to one of the boroughs in New York, Staten Island. The ferry offers a great view of Downtown Manhattan, Brooklyn, New Jersey and the Statue of Liberty.

Greenwich Village Halloween Parade

Since 1974 there has been a Halloween Parade in Greenwich Village/Chelsea on Manhattan. The parade runs up 6th Avenue from Spring Street to 22nd Street.
