The Catalan Countries are the territories where the Catalan language is spoken. It stretches from Valencia in Spain into the southern region of Pyrénées-Orientales in France. The area also encompasses the Balearic Islands and the Principality of Andorra. I visited Barcelona, Sitges and Andorra in December 2016.
Barcelona
Barcelona is the largest city in the Catalan Countries. The city is the capital of the Spanish autonomous community Catalonia.
Sitges
Sitges is a small town located 35 kilometers southwest of Barcelona. It is known for its film festival, carnival and gay community. Sitges has been referred to as the Saint-Tropez of Spain.
Andorra
Andorra, believed to have been founded by Charlemagne, is a landlocked, independent country in the Pyrenees, between Spain and France.
