My first Mediterranean cruise went out from Ravenna, Italy, and with stops in Albania, Greece, Italy and Malta.
Explorer of the Seas
Royal Caribbean’s Explorer of the Seas was completed in 2000. With a gross tonnage of 137,308 and a capacity of 3000 passengers, it was the largest cruise ship in the world (until 2002).
Sarandë, Albania
Sarandë is situated by the Ionian Sea, at the Albanian Riviera. During the stop there I hiked to Lëkurësi Castle, built in 1537 by Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent of the Ottoman Empire. As anywhere in Albania, concrete military bunkers can be seen spotted all over the landscape.
